We had the best babymoon in Palm Dessert and are already looking forward to going back! We’d been looking for a place to visit for a few months, and wanted to travel somewhere we hadn’t been before. Unfortunately our options were a little limited due to the Zika virus so we decided to stay in the US. At first I booked a trip to Maui since we fell in love with Hawaii, but as I got further along in my pregnancy I wasn’t sure how comfortable that flight would be. So we settled on Palm Springs since Drew had a work event in Vegas right around the time we were thinking of going away. We went to Vegas for four days and then road tripped out to the desert.
Although the trip was long, (lots of bathroom stops thanks to baby!) it was the most beautiful drive and I would do it again in a heartbeat. It was so amazing to see all the mountains and then random spots of greenery right when you think there’s no way any sort of vegetation could survive out there.
We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Indian Wells which was the perfect location situated right outside Palm Springs. The desert was in the middle of a heat wave when we arrived- temps between 100-110 every day, which we just thought was normal. But after talking to staff at the resort, it was unreasonably hot for that time of year. I loved it though, I absolutely love the heat, and without the humidity it was perfect. I wasn’t sure if the baby would make me less tolerant to the heat, but I spend most of the day sitting in the pool so I didn’t mind it at all. I actually noticed baby boy was most active when my belly was underwater, so it was pretty cool to get to feel him so much throughout the day.
We spent most days at the pool and then at night we tried a bunch of different restaurants in the area- all with outdoor seating which was my favorite part of the trip. There’s something about sitting outside at night while the sun is setting that is so relaxing to me. All that was missing was a glass of wine (next year!), but don’t worry I made up for it with double the amount of food.
The first night we visited Pacifica Seafood and sat on the rooftop for dinner. It had a awesome view and cute shops around the area that we were able to walk around to. We also went to Tommy Bahama’s restaurant another night, which was close by. They had a similar rooftop setting where we ate dinner and had the BEST coconut shrimp ever. If you go to Palm Springs you have to try them!
Our resort had an amazing spa, so we spent one full afternoon there. I was a little hesitant to get a massage because they didn’t have a prenatal massage table, so I wasn’t sure how relaxing it would be to get a massage laying on my side- but I was wrong. I didn’t realize how much my back was aching until I left the massage and literally felt like a new person. Now I want one everyday!
We’re already trying to think of a new place to go with the babe once he’s here- so if you have any baby friendly travel destinations let me know!
